So I actually finished something!
This little number is about 7.5 feet long; it was a bit more, but it’s relaxing slightly from the blocking, which is fine, because I didn’t intend to block it that hard in the first place (it just happened!), and would rather it were slightly shorter. It’s lovely, and doesn’t match anything I own, but that’s fine. I like it.
I’ve now cast on for Booga’s Haruni, and will have a post of that as soon as it looks like something worth taking a picture of. Right now it looks like someone threw up a bunch of easter egg-colored spaghetti. Gross, right? But apt.

Yesterday I took the girls to the WI Sheep & Wool Festival. I’ll be posting more pictures later, I’m short on time, but this is what I came home with:
From left to right: DK-weight alpaca from Shady Haven’s Fiber Designs; two skeins of fingering-weight wool/bamboo/nylon blend – the yarn is called “Sheen” and it’s very shiny – from Samantha In Stitches; three skeins of laceweight merino/cashmere/nylon from Sun Valley Fiber Farm. The skully bag came from Samantha in Stitches; she was running a deal where if you purchased over $50, you could get a free bag or needle case. I was going to get a needle case but then I saw the skully bag and had to have it. I also got a chart keeper at her booth (not pictured); the stitch markers in the little baggies came from Sun Valley Fiber Farm (and were free because I bought so much there).
It was fun. More pictures of baby lambs later.

I don’t have any finished objects just yet, but Cupcake recently finished making some armwarmers for his oldest daughter for her birthday. This is the Celty Mitts pattern from Ravelry, and the yarn is Knit Picks Felici Self-Striping Sock Yarn in Time Traveler (which he bought five balls of for my birfday because we are nerds and needed Doctor Who-inspired yarn – we are sharing it). Apparently I don’t have an actual “finished” picture, we’ll need to wait till she brings them back down here from ‘Boo next time, but here’s a mostly-done one:

Yes, my boyfriend knits. And he knits cables. And he knits on double-points. Yes, he is made of hotness.
(and yes, I taught him. But he let me! so there.)

Yesterday we went to the Wisconsin Highland Games out in Waukesha just for kicks. Cupcake went in much the same attire as on St. Patrick’s Day, except the beard was single-braided and not green this time. He ended up buying a “Survivor” model Utilikilt, because not a single one of the vendors there had anything in his tartan (nor mine, for what it’s worth, and you’d think Grant and MacIntyre would both be pretty common). He already had the basic Utilikilt, as you see in the St. Patty’s day photo, but “the Survivor can hold 24 cans of beer!” I, meanwhile, bought a Certified Kilt Inspector t-shirt and a shawl pin.
I wore my Frozen Leaves shawl, the first time I’ve worn it out and about. It was very cozy! It was ridiculously windy at the games, so it was nice to have something. We saw a little bit of the dancing, though apparently we’d missed the sword dances, and Cupcake wanted to see the rugby (“it’s what real men do”), which was supposed to go until 5, but by 3:30 they’d evidently stopped for the day, so we missed that too. But we saw some caber tossing, and I sucked at some longbow, and bought some shortbread and had some Naughty Scot ale. Also, Waukesha is a short distance away from St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy, where Cupcake went to school for most of high school, so he kept pointing out the SJNMA boys who were at the games. It’s interesting to see these little bits of his past cropping up here and there.
Today, maybe Taste of Madison, maybe not. He’s heading up to ‘Boo to get the kids shortly, and we’ll have em overnight. Next weekend: WI Sheep & Wool Festival! The deal for the new kilt was that I get to spend an equal amount on yarn. Mwa ha ha.

Yeah, we had a lot to do yesterday. Blurgh.
So, what am I working on? Way too many things. Shawls, mostly, though.
This is the Diagonale pattern on Ravelry. The yarn is from Sun Valley Fiber Farm in Mt. Horeb; it’s heavier than laceweight, but lighter than fingering weight, and incredibly soft and sproingy. Merino, cashmere, and just a little bit of nylon. I’m just over halfway done, and this thing is going to be huge. I’ve been working on it since mid-May, and hope to have it done in the next week or so – it’s going much faster now (plus I put it down in favor of some other things).

This is using the Scroll Lace pattern from Barbara Walker’s A Treasury of Knitting Patterns (I think it’s vol 1, but it might be vol 2). It’s on Ravelry as a specific pattern, but it’s the same either way. I got to learn p2togtbl for this! I’m making it for my friend Michelle at her request. She picked out the yarn – Araucania Ruca, a DK-weight yarn made out of sugarcane. I am about a quarter of the way done with this.

Traveling Woman. I had the bright idea to put a patterned section in the stockinette portion of this…and I’m not sure I like it, and I kind of messed it up, so I think I’m going to frog this and start over. Because, well, yeah. I’m going to wait till I’m done with the Diagonale, though.
